Science Education In A FUN Way Through Hands-On Exploration!
High Touch High Tech of Northern Charlotte delivers 90-minute, in-school science workshops that transform your classroom into a Living Laboratory! Elementary students in grades K-5 can become a real scientist and learn by doing the actual experiments. Programs are aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study (NCSCS) in Science and help build confidence for standardized testing.
High Touch High Tech scientists are highly trained and create an environment of respect and integrity while encouraging students to reach their potential. Our scientists provide high quality classroom instruction and thought-provoking science experiences.
Our hands-on science experiments allow students to make direct observations and to manipulate materials and equipment. We use materials that are concrete, safe and relevant to children's lives. Students can duplicate many of these experiments at home with their parents.
High Touch High Tech programs are centered on the individual child's experience; therefore, many programs can be adapted upon request to meet the needs of other grade levels.
Pricing and Reservations
Our standard fee is $7.50 per student; Teachers and Parent Chaperones are welcome to participate free of charge. There is a $10.00 travel fee per scientist per day.
Program fees are usually paid by Parents or the PTA/PTO. Schools currently receiving outside grants can use them for High Touch High Tech programs.

Reservations are required and must be accompanied by a $35.00 non-refundable deposit to hold the requested day and time of your program.

Elementary Program Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
Q: Do any of your programs contain food items or edible experiments?
A: Some of our programs do have edible experiments, or may contain food items. If there are any foods or substances (ex. Nuts, Eggs, Latex, etc.) that are prohibited from your school, please inform us when you place your booking. We can certainly adapt a program to remove and replace an experiment if needed.
Q: Can teachers step out of the classroom while the Scientist is facilitating the program?
A: Teachers are requested to remain in the classroom throughout the program. We encourage teachers to participate and rely on their feedback to assist in our efforts to continuously improve upon our FUN and exciting hands on science experiences.
Q: How should I set up my classroom in preparation for the Scientist?
A: Our Scientist and your students will need either desk tops or table tops at which to conduct their hands-on science experiments. We also ask that you have a Chalkboard or Dry Erase board available for use by our Scientist. Note that some programs may require access to water; therefore, access to a sink and tap would also be helpful.
Q: Can I pay for a HTHT in-school field trip with grant dollars that have been awarded to my school?
A: Yes. Many schools pay for their High Touch High Tech programs with grant dollars received via the 21st Century Grant, Eisenhower Grant and several Local & State Grants.
